Koh Chang might be a less popular Thailand destination, but there are plenty of amazing experiences and things to do across the island. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxing beach days, or experiencing the rich culture, this guide shares the 10 best things to do in Koh Chang.
What is Koh Chang best known for?
Koh Chang is famous for its elephant shape, waterfalls, quiet beaches, and chilled-out vibe. It’s ideal for travellers who want both adventure and relaxation.
Is Koh Chang good for adventure activities?
Yes! From ATV tours and treetop ziplining to snorkeling and kayaking, there’s plenty to do beyond the beach.
How do I get around Koh Chang?
Realistically, renting a moped is the best way to get around Koh Chang. The roads aren’t too busy, but outside of the main area there can be some more challenging hills to be aware of. There definitely are taxis and songthaews available, but they aren’t as readily available as other destinations.
Is Koh Chang expensive?
Koh Chang is very affordable. You can eat local meals for cheap, and most activities offer great value for money.
10 Best Things to Do in Koh Chang
1. Go on an ATV Jungle Tour

Explore Koh Chang’s rugged jungle interior with an ATV adventure. We booked with ATV Winner and loved the experience. It was a lot more challenging than what we’ve experienced before in places like Bali, but we were the only people there so it was like a private tour. The guides were really kind and took lots of pictures for us!
It’s the most fun way to see the island’s wild side—and you will get dusty (I literally had to wipe dirt off my teeth).
2. Try Tree Top Adventure Park Koh Chang
Swing, climb, and zipline through the treetops at this jungle obstacle course. Make sure you bring enclosed shoes and enjoy the adventure.
3. Beach Hopping

Beach hopping is probably my favourite thing to do on holiday. We rented a scooter for our trip so we loved exploring different beaches all day. Lonely beach is my favourite, with less crowds and beach chairs you can use (as long as you buy a drink – coconut shakes were my go-to). Spend the day relaxing and exploring the local area
4. Go on a Snorkelling Tour
Book a half-day or full-day boat trip to explore Koh Chang’s nearby coral reefs. There are different tours available and you can usually book them through your hotel or local store. You’ll probably be picked up from your hotel so it makes the day super easy.
Usually around 1000 baht per person
5. Visit Bang Bao Pier

This fishing pier is lined with souvenir shops and seafood restaurants. It’s the perfect mix of culture, shopping, and views.
6. Explore Koh Chang’s Waterfalls
Koh Chang is a pretty mountainous region, so there are some amazing waterfalls to visit across the island. Be prepared for national park fees, but it is well worth the cool off.
7. Kai Bae Viewpoint

One of the best panoramic views on the island—especially at golden hour. There’s also a cafe and resident monkey here! This is a great spot for pictures and plenty of seating if you want to stay a while.
8. Rent a Kayak or Stand-Up Paddleboard
Explore the coastline at your own pace—especially calm in the mornings. There are even a few islands you’ll be able to see from shore that you could paddle out to if you’re willing.
9. Sunset Cocktails on the Beach

End the day with a drink in hand catch the sunset. There are plenty of great beachfront spots, like Sol Beach and Vanilla Sky Koh Chang.
10. Koh Chang Night Market
If you haven’t been to a Thai night market yet, you’re really missing out. Honestly, Koh Chang’s night market scene is much smaller, but is still well worth the visit. Check out affordable local dishes and enjoy the lively evening.
Exploring waterfalls, beach hopping, or just watching the sunset with a coconut in hand, there’s something here for every kind of traveller.
